Definitions

Test Group

The Test Code and Test Group Code are combined on the previous screen. Test Group displays as the three- or four-digit Test Code followed by a space and the single-digit Test Group Code suffix. Test groups are created to specify how results are displayed for editing.

An autorelease option set in File Management allows a facility to automatically release all samples with normal test results, post them for immediate viewing, and send them to patient files. This switch is test group specific. If it is active, only samples with at least one abnormal test result display.

Sample ID

A unique ID that is assigned to each order of tests for a patient. The ID is also referred to as the accession number. All test results for the order are recorded under the Sample ID.

Asterisk

An asterisk to the left of a test name indicates the test was not ordered. Results for these tests do not post to the patient record.

Dots

A line of dots indicates that the test results were not transmitted from the instrument to the CyberLAB system.

Abnormal Test Result/Fail Delta

The abnormal, numerical test result displays in red type with a VL (very low) result. The D indicates that the test result failed the Delta Percents evaluation.

Other abnormal result levels that display in red are L (low), H (high), and VH (very high).

Precision

An X to the right of the test result indicates that the precision that the instrument sent is different from the precision defined in the editing format.

Instrument Error

An flag to the right of the result indicates an instrument error. The instrument-error flag, illustrated here as F, can be a letter, number, slash /, or another mark, as defined by the instrument.

Button Definitions

Hold

The Hold button can be used for several purposes. They are:

  1. Hold results for review by a supervisor because the user classification limits tasks to enter or review but not release of results.

  2. Hold test results for review at a later time.

  3. Hold a test result for comparison with the result of a test that is repeated.

Note: When a result is changed and then retained, the changed values of the result are retained, not the original values.

Delete

The Delete button eliminates all of the results displayed on the Edit screen for the sample .  The deleted results are not released to the patient record.

Skip

The Skip button allows the test result data to retain a new status, until it can be reviewed later.

O/W

The Overwrite button displays ONLY if prior results have been posted for the same patient, the same sample, and the same tests. To replace the posted test results with the currently edited test results, you must click the O/W (Overwrite) button.

Sample

A Change Sample ID screen displays when you click the Sample button. You can replace a temporary Sample ID with an official Sample ID, if results were transmitted with the temporary Sample ID.

Results

The Results button displays the Results Entry screen, on which you can modify the test results, add comments, and repeat tests.

Call

The Call button displays the Call Report Comments dialog box, which allows you to force entry of call comments.

The system automatically displays the Call Report Comments dialog box to prompt you to enter call comments, if the facility uses the Call Report feature.  Abnormal results or any other test results that require a doctor to be telephoned, display on the Call Report Phone List.

The information entered in the Call Report Comments dialog box is retained in the sample record in the Patient Inquiry submodule and can be included on the clinical report.

Note:
Ignored actions can print on a clinical report. The hard-coded comment that prints if you clicked the Ignore button is "Critical/Changed value ignored."

For further information, see About Call Report.

For further information about test result values, see Alpha/Numeric Ranges and Flags.

Diff

The Diff (Differential) button displays the prior differential test results for the patient, if editing hematology tests.

Prior Results

The Prior Results button displays prior results for the same test group, the same patient, but different specimens.

Prior Delta

The Prior Delta button displays prior Delta percents, when the current tests fail Delta.

Retain All

The Retain All button places results aside for future editing of all samples that are displayed on the screen.

Delete All

The Delete All button eliminates all the test results for all samples that are displayed on the screen. The results do not post to the patient record.

Skip All

The Skip All button allows all the test results to remain as new results and be held for future editing.

OK

The OK button accepts into the CyberLAB system the information that you edited on the screen.

Continue

The Continue button indicates that you want to advance to the next screen of samples that await review. When you reach the end of the file, the system returns to the initial screen.

Done

The Done button indicates that you have finished editing entries on a screen.

Cancel

The Cancel button eliminates entries you made on the screen, and the system returns to the previous screen. All samples and tests resume their prior state.
