Purpose

Use the Collection List screen to:

 

Note: There are no default formats for the Collection List, but there are standard default parameters that the laboratory can use, if desired.

 

Collection List

A Collection List is a list of uncollected samples that must be collected from patients to perform ordered tests.

 

These samples may have been entered as uncollected in the Patient Entry/Maintenance submodule or as an order transmitted from an HIS /CIS.

 

The list can display on a screen or be produced on a printer.

Caution:  

To leave a screen in the CyberLAB system, always click the Exit button at the upper-right corner of the screen.  

Do not use the (red or black) X button at the top-right corner of the screen. This action can affect operation of the application.

Column Headings

The numbers illustrated across the screen (+--1 to +--8), identify the columns, which represent the width of a standard worksheet printed on an 8 1/2 X 11 inch sheet of paper. Each + represents five characters of space, so 8 represents 80 characters of space.

 

The grid (+--1 to +--8) does not print on the worksheet. The cursor starts in the first left position under the first dash (-).

Enter and maintain the column headings that you want to appear on the worksheets. The location of the column headings correspond to the data that displays under them. Enter a maximum of two lines.

Format Definitions

 

Number of Blank Lines Between Samples

Indicates the number of blank lines between samples on a load list. The default is 0.

Include Century in Dates

There are two options:

 

Label for Tube Requirements

Enter the label that you want to use on the list for Tube Requirements. Use a maximum of 20 alphanumeric characters.

Label for Handling Procedures

Enter the label that you want to use on the list for Handling Procedures. Use a maximum of 25 alphanumeric characters.

 

 

 

 

Procedures

Note to Keyboard Users:  To navigate around a screen or scroll within a selection list, use the Tab key to move down and the Tab and Shift keys to move up. Press the Enter key to select the data.

 

For a shortcut key, also known as a hot key, press the Alt key and the key corresponding to the letter that is underlined, for example, Alt + O for OK.

 

 

Perform these steps:

 

  1. Enter the column headings that you want to appear on the list.

    Note: The numbers illustrated across the screen (+--1 to +--8), identify the columns between 1 - 80, which represent the width of a standard worksheet printed on an 8 1/2 X 11 inch sheet of paper.

    The grid (+--1 to +--8) does not print on the worksheet. The cursor starts in the first left position under first dash (-).

  2. Enter in the text box the number of blank lines that you want between information about samples on the list. The default is 0.

  3. Click within the Include Century in Dates text box to display the drop-down list. The options are: Yes and No. Select one of the options.

    Select the Yes option to include the century in each date that prints on the list. This is the default entry. Format example: 07/04/2006.

    Select the No option to NOT include the century in each date that prints on the list. Format example: 07/04/06.

  4. Enter in the text box the label that you want to use for Tube Requirements on the list. Use a maximum of 20 alphanumeric characters.

  5. Enter in the text box the label that you want to use for Handling Procedures. Use a maximum of 20 alphanumeric characters.

  6. Click the Next button to advance to parameters for the list.

    Or, rather than click the Next button, click the Cancel button at the bottom of the Collection List screen to not accept the entries and selections you have made on the screen. The system returns to the Select Options screen.
     

  7. DO NOT click the Accept button unless you are finished and have entered or selected the format and parameters for the Collection List.

    There are no default formats for the list, but there are default parameters. You are not required to select parameters. You can use the standard default parameters.

    If you click the Accept button, the Trial Run draft of the list displays with only a Complete button. When you click the Complete button, the system returns you to the Select Options screen.
