Search Function
Search Results
The search function in the CyberLAB system is found in the Patient Inquiry submodule of the Patient Entry/Inquiry module.
This icon has been used in the CyberLAB system to access Patient Inquiry. In the 7.2 CyberLAB system, your facility has the capability to create a maximum of 20 icons that link to various menu options in the application, including Patient Inquiry. The Quick Launch Icons created by your facility display at the top of application screens. For further information, see Quick Launch Icons.
In the Patient Inquiry submodule, an authorized user can perform a search to track the status of tests ordered for a patient. The information resides in the active files of the Laboratory Information System (LIS ).
The order for tests is called a sample ID. A patient can be assigned many sample IDs through the length of a visit or hospital stay.
Tests can be added to the sample ID, modified, or deleted.
Note: The user ID can limit the inquiry function to the patients of a physician or a group of physicians.

Note: Patient Inquiry allows you to perform a search of only one category at a time.
To track the progress of ordered tests or view historical information about an order, you can perform a search in four ways:
Sample ID, the code given to an order of tests for a patient
Patient ID, the code assigned to the patient
Patient Name
Date Received, the date that the ordered sample arrived in the lab
Calendar - A calendar image displays if you double-click the Date Received text box. You have to use the mouse to navigate in the calendar.
For information about the calendar, see Date/Time and Calendar.
Note: The name of the Admitting Doctor can be added to assist the search for a Patient Name or Date Received. But, it does limit the search to only that doctor. The user ID determines if this text box is available to assist the search.

The information that results from your search of a patient's ordered tests displays on several tab screens.
The information on these screens cannot be modified, except if a user classification allows new comments (clinical notes) to be added to a Sample ID.
Search Launches Different Screens:
If you perform a search for a Sample ID or Date Received, information about the sample order displays on these tab screens:
Results
History
View Notes
Enter Notes
Tests/DX
Print
If you perform a search for a Patient ID or a Patient Name, information about all the Sample IDs for the patient display on these tab screens:
Sample List
Uncollected
Demography
Pathology
Note: The Pathology Tab is available only if the CyberPATH module is integrated with your CyberLAB LIS.
These tab screens provide a cumulative status for the Sample IDs, that is, the Uncollected Tab lists all the samples in the orders that have not been collected and the Pathology Tab lists the results of all the samples in which pathology samples are present on CyberPATH.
If you select any of the Sample IDs for the patient on the Sample List screen, information about the ordered tests for that Sample ID display on these screens:
Results
History
View Notes
Enter Notes
Tests/DX
A Print Tab allows you to print the Interim Report about a sample. The Interim Report is also known as a clinical report.
The Results Tab displays the status of the ordered tests for the Sample ID you entered on the Search screen.
The History Tab includes all historical information that pertains to each sample, such as the result history, call history, print history, and order deactivation.
Your facility determines the user who can enter and view notes about the ordered tests. You enter notes on the Enter Notes Tab screen.
The notes you enter are available on the View Notes Tab screen. This screen displays only if there are notes about the sample and the user classification has the proper security access.
You can enter additional comments to an existing note, but the existing note cannot be modified or deleted. When you enter comments, your user name and the date and time of the entry is automatically logged and included in the display of the notes.
The Tests/DX Tab screen displays the ordered tests and their ICD-9 codes, as provided by the caregiver.

The Sample List button at the lower left of the screen launches these tab screens:
The list contains all samples ordered for the patient for a period of time.
This tab lists Sample IDs in which an order has been placed but a specimen for the order has not been collected.
The basic information about a patient displays on this tab.
Your facility determines the text boxes and text box labels that are available on the Demography Tab screen.
This tab displays any samples of the patient that have pathology or cytology tests ordered. The Pathology Tab displays only if the CyberPATH module is in use at your facility.
